Saturday, September 12th, 2009 writen by Carsten

As the bigger part of the Topcat sailors have left the PuntAla Camping Resort with their cat-trailers going north passing the alpes and going home again, I am still here, cleaning up my Bungalow, rigging down my K3 and...yes still uploading photos.

I don't know when I will get the rest of the photos online, as I have to travel home for the next days. But be shure they will get to the web, including the ones from the prize awards.
I will also try to put the missing videos online as soon as possible.

Good morning everbody!
Well what's up? Actually I haven't been to beach this morning. It's way to early. So I have no idea how the wind will be like today.
We had 2 races yesterday. The first one started with rather strong wind from the northerly direction as it used to be the days before. The second one was already very loud at the start of the K2, with two piles of boats on either side of the starting  line, leading to a couple of protests. The K2 race was then shortened after the second downwind leg, because the wind started dying. Doing the right thing at the gate and at the starting/finishing vessel was not really easy. The beach saw long discussions about the proper way to get through the finish and about the question were the finishing line actually had been.
The evening started with Beach Party at Bar Mare. Has anyone ever tried to make a bbq for more than 200 people who all want to eat at the same time? Well, I haven't, so there will be no complains.
The Sunnyboys from Italy were the band that then played for us, with song from the 60's, 70's following the legendary sounds of the Beach Boys, The Bee Gees and so on. They even played a song from the Sex Pistols. So, these guys were absolutly great and I'm sure that everyone enjoyed the evening.

Up into the third day

After 2 days of rather strong winds we will see what the wednesday will bring to us. At least everbody got a lot of sun out there on the water.
The sailing is pretty challenging. Maybe I hadn't expected that in this way. The sailors "hospital" is filling up with cuts and various bruises, sore backs and taped people everywhere. Unfortunately we even saw a broken arm.
We also produced a pretty pile of GFK-trash. I have heard about the plan of some Italians to get 3 new hulls to Punta Ala tonight to bring 2 boots back into race. This hopefully works out okay.
Since the internet around here is on the edge of unusable during daytimes, because everybody tries to use it, it is not easy for us to keep you all updated in the way you have been used to. We apologize for that.
Greets to everbody,

no practice race

Monday, September 7th, 2009 writen by Carsten

After a short and clearly briefing we intended to sail a practice race today. But as there were very shifty winds with changing windspeeds both races had to be stopped again.

Starting time for tomorrow will be at 11 am.
